The difference between oil pipe and casing

What is the difference between oil pipe and casing? Where are the oil wells? Is casing the outermost layer of the well? Let me help you answer the following questions:

OCTG Seamless Casing For Oil and Gas

Oil pipes and casing are essential tools for oil exploration.

Oil pipe is a pipe that is lowered into the well casing during normal production of the oil well. The oil flows from the well through the oil pipe into the underground and enters the gathering and transportation process. In coal mining wells, a combination of oil pipes, sucker rods and deep well pumps pump oil underground and enter the gathering and transportation process.

Casing is a tube that is lowered into the well after drilling. The casing and well wall are sealed with cement, and then a perforating gun is used to align the perforations in the target layer, allowing the oil to flow through the rock formation, cement sheath, and casing into the well. At the bottom, enter the pipe and come to the surface. The main functions are:

1. Reinforce the well wall to prevent formation collapse;

2. Separate different oil layers and water layers to achieve layered mining;

3. Easy to implement fracturing, acidification and other measures and maintenance operations;

4. Form an oil flow channel and cooperate with the oil pipe to achieve the purpose of oil production.

The sequence is: after the oil well is laid, the casing is run, the casing and the well wall are sealed with cement, and the oil pipe is put into the casing. The oil pipe is equipped with downhole tools such as oil packers and pumps. The sucker rod is inserted into the oil pipe, and the sucker rod pulls the piston of the pump to reciprocate up and down. In this way, the oil is pumped to the surface.
