That was an issue I was having. Since tool 8 bit 1-3 are off. The turret was stalling between tools if all 3 bit states were 0 and tool 8 was called. So I added the Strobe signal to then turn off the motor and engage the solenoid.
So for tool 8 all 3 bits had to be off and the strobe signal high before it would proceed. A timer was set in for 3sec and if the turret didn't find its position in 3 sec, then there was an issue and would stop. Or that was my theory anyway.
After seeing the last few post, from you and drbitboy i realize there are better ways to accomplish this. Im going to re write it before I install it in the machine. This is my first go at ladder logic and messing with PLC's at all. Thank you all for taking the time to share your knowledge. I have been struggling for a week or so trying to get done.

Tailstock Turret - The Home Machinist!
It doesn't look as if anyone else mentioned the biggest issue.....
The tailstock ram is the primary/only alinement for that. Since the ram MUST have some clearance to slide, and you will likely be operating with the ram a fair ways out of the T/S at times, the fit and looseness is going to affect your workpiece features.
A bed turret has a longer alinement surface, and the alinement surface is not reduced with movement, while as the ram moves out, the lever arm gets bigger as the alinement surfaces reduce.. double whammy.
The bed turret is also much more massive, more rigidly mounted, and less able to be momentarily kicked aside by irregularities in the work. The "kicking" will be limited mostly to the tool itself, as with a drill.
I don't recall what machine you use, IIRC a large JET lathe? There may be no bed turret available. But for older Logan, Southbend, and even Atlas, a bed turret will cost maybe 4x what a T/S turret does, not a bad deal.
Might even be adaptable to your machine........
