Steel Rebar Mesh - An Essential Component for Concrete Strengthening

Steel reinforcement mesh, an essential component in construction, is composed of a grid of steel bars or wires—commonly referred to as rebar or steel fabric. This mesh is integrated within concrete slabs to enhance their strength and longevity. The presence of reinforcement mesh assists concrete structures in resisting tensile forces due to factors like subgrade settlement, heavy loads, drying shrinkage, as well as thermal expansion and contraction. Furthermore, it plays a significant role in decreasing the necessity for control joints and minimizes both the occurrence and width of cracks in concrete surfaces.

Reinforcement mesh is produced in various sizes and classifications based on its intended application and the anticipated load on the concrete. Designations in the British Standard (like A193 or B785) specify the area of steel within the mesh for each square meter. As an instance, A193 mesh contains 193 mm² of steel per meter in width. A142, characterized by 6 mm longitudinal and cross wires, is the most commonly utilized type of reinforcement mesh in residential contexts, such as for pathways, driveways, and garden foundations. Alternatively, for more arduous domestic projects, like house extensions and high-load driveways, A193 and A252 are optimal choices.

Steel rebar mesh can be manufactured using carbon steel, stainless steel, or epoxy-coated steel. Carbon steel is predominantly used in residential constructions but it is prone to corrosion. On the other hand, stainless steel rebar offers enhanced resistance to corrosion; however, it comes at a higher cost and is generally allocated for projects where corrosion is a major concern. Epoxy-coated rebar is essentially carbon steel rebar that has been layered with a protective epoxy coating to mitigate corrosion risks.

To maximize the effectiveness of steel rebar mesh, it must be accurately positioned in the mid-depth of the slab to prevent issues such as exposure of the rebar or corrosion. The standard minimum cover for reinforcement mesh in concrete slabs is usually set at 25 mm or double the diameter of the largest bar—取决于两者中较大的尺寸。

A193 reinforcing mesh is designed primarily for strengthening elements such as concrete retaining walls, foundations, ground beams, and is most frequently used in concrete floor slabs.

Incorporating steel reinforcement significantly boosts the slab or beam’s strength and rigidity, thus minimizing the risk of cracking. When positioning the mesh within a concrete slab or foundation, it's crucial to ensure adequate cover on both the top and bottom. Utilizing appropriate concrete mesh spacers is recommended to maintain this cover, with price details for various types available upon request.

The A193 mesh features 7mm horizontal and vertical bars, forming squares measuring 200x200mm. Each sheet has a weight of 22kg and is supplied in dimensions of 4.8 x 2.4m (11.52m²), resulting in an effective coverage area of approximately 12m² after accounting for laps.

Our construction mesh range includes standard (A, B, C & D) fabric types manufactured in compliance with British Standards and comes with CARES certification. We also offer a comprehensive range of wire supports, including both continuous hi-chairs and circular types.

This product is also referred to as Concrete Reinforcement, Steel Reinforcement Mesh, Mesh Fabric, Reinforcing Fabric, Reinforcing Matting, Mesh Reinforcing, and Steel Sheeting.

**Note: A minimum order of 5 sheets is required for this product.**

Please note that images are for illustrative purposes only. The sheets are typically stored outside, which may lead to rust; this is standard practice and doesn't affect the usability of the sheets.
